Giant Miscanthus — Professional Producer
European industry's access to viable feedstock is tightening
Regulations are tightening. Imports are a risk. Most producers still have no domestic alternative to gas and coal for industrial heat.
Greenhouse gas emissions now come at a cost.
EU ETS allowances are above €50 per tonne and still rising. CBAM already applies to cement, steel, glass, and fertilisers. Chemicals will be included soon.
Feedstock is becoming less predictable.
Gas prices can change by 30 to 60 per cent each year. Wood pellets are in short supply and prices are at record highs. Without your own source, it is hard to predict costs.
Other alternatives do not scale well.
Solar and wind provide electricity, but not heat. The market needs a non-wood feedstock that can be grown locally, every year, and at an industrial scale.
The deadlines are already set.
RED III, CBAM, CSRD, and ESG audits mean the time for voluntary transition is running out. Those who wait will face penalties.
No other biomass crop comes close
